Rocky Mountain High School’s Diamond Dance Team brought energy, excitement, and talent to the stage on March 28th, 2025, during their annual Spring Showcase. The night featured performances from the team, guest studios, and the anticipated “Bling Boy” routine.
The show started off with the team’s military dance titled “We Rumblin.” They were then followed by a guest performance from the local dance studio, Collaborative Artist for Dance Advancement (CADA). Afterwards, two of the four solos choreographed for this season were performed. Then, the team performed their halftime routine titled “Motto.” The rest of the night consisted of guest performances from studios like CADA, The Spot, Studio C, Impact, and Dance Unlimited; they were combined with Rocky’s routines of the season.
The showcase, held in the gym, highlighted all the work the dance team has put into their season this year. One of the biggest crowd-pleasers Rocky puts on was the “Bling Boy” routine, where each Diamond Dancer pairs up with a male student to learn and perform a choreographed dance.
For many of the Bling Boys, performing in front of a packed audience was a brand-new experience. The week of the showcase, the bling boys spent early mornings before school learning the choreography with their dancers. Ty Stokes, a Junior at Rocky, states how he was feeling and nerves leading up to the performance in an exclusive interview.
Briggs: “Are you nervous?”
Stokes: “I mean, not really.”
Briggs: “Do you think it should be boys only? Or do you like dancing with the team?”
Stokes: “Dancing with the team is definitely better.”
Briggs: “Would you do it if you didn’t have a girlfriend on the team and somebody asked you?”
Stokes: “Absolutely not. Only reason I’m doing it.”
Boston Coppieters, a Freshman, explains his nerves leading up to the performance in another exclusive interview.
Briggs: “Are you excited to be a bling boy?”
Coppieters: “So excited. It’s going to be super fun.”
Briggs: “What are you nervous about?”
Coppieters: “Not really nervous, kind of more excited than nervous.”
Now, after having gotten the performance done, the bling boys reflect on their experience. Krew Spiker, a sophomore, explains how he feels the show went, including his surprise backflip at the end. “I think I did great,” Spiker admits. “It’s actually pretty fun, underrated(ly) fun, like I didn’t think it was going to be too fun.”
With another successful showcase in the books, the Diamond Dance Team once again proved why they’re such a big part of Rocky Mountain High School.
