The popular internet liminal space called ‘The Backrooms’ is being turned into a movie produced by A24 movies. It will be directed by 20-year-old Kane Parsons. The film is going to be entirely set around the premise of the popular creepypasta on Reddit and Wikipedia. The trailer was released February 24th on the official A24 YouTube channel and has gained extreme amounts of popularity over TikTok and Reddit.

Kane Parsons released his first backrooms concept video four years ago and titled it “Backrooms (Found Footage)” it was based around the idea of a movie scene being filmed and the cameraman “no-clips” through the ground and into the backrooms. “No-clipping” is the idea of falling through patches in the fabric of reality that are corrupted or incomplete. The short film exploded with popularity reaching 72 million views, growing Kane’s channel significantly. he since then has uploaded a total 17 videos featuring The Backrooms, obtaining roughly 210 million views in total. The trailer as of 3/2/26 has almost 5,000,000 views on YouTube and has been re-posted and shared hundreds of times across tons of social media platforms.

The movie will hit theaters on May 29th, 2026, and is expected to be rated R by the Motion Picture Association due to graphic scenes and jump scares.
