Zootopia 2 was produced by Walt Disney Animation and directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard. The movie is a sequel to students around Rocky’s favorite animation, Zootopia, and was released on November 26th, 2025. It follows the story of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, so here’s your fellow Rocky student’s perspectives on this chart-topping animation film. 

Zootopia 2 picks up shortly after all the events in the first animation. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are now official partners in the Zootopia Police Department, the ZPD. The city is preparing to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the weather walls that allow all the different environments to allow them to coexist. Yet their celebration is interrupted by a series of events that involve a peculiar reptilian character named Gary De’snake, who arrives in Zootopia and stirs all kinds of trouble. 

So, is Zootopia 2 worth watching? When asked why she went to watch and why others would want to watch it, Ellie Mixson, a freshman at Rocky, explained, “I think everyone was excited because Zootopia was a huge part of our childhood. We all loved the first one, so when the sequel came out, it was a big deal for everyone to talk about.” The first film was a big deal, making approximately 1 billion dollars, but the sequel raked in 1.7 billion dollars, becoming the highest-grossing animated film of all time, passing the previous record holder, Inside Out 2. 

Parker Pace, another freshman, was asked, how did the movie meet, exceed, or fall short of what you expected going in? He responded, saying, “I didn’t have super high expectations, but I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. It was exciting and fun, and the plot kept me interested, so it exceeded what I expected. I hope there’s another one.” Overall, this film has gotten good reviews from people interviewed and passing chatter in the halls. 

So Rocky, what are you waiting for? Go watched the 2025 sequel to a childhood favorite, Zootopia 2, which has been breaking records and leaving people wanting more. It broke Disney’s recent dip and scored a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes’, beating their long streak of 75%. This is an exciting, adventure-filled animation film that anyone of all ages can enjoy. Have fun!
