Regretting You was published and written by Colleen Hoover in December 10, 2019. The movie adaption started filming in March 3, 2025, and came to theaters on October 24, 2025. The movie featured McKenna Grace and Mason Thames, along with Morgan Grant and Jonah Sullivan.
The film presented a storyline centered around grief and a complex mother daughter relationship. The main character, Clara Grant, is 16 years old and loses both her dad and aunt in a tragic car accident. It leaves her and her mom to adjust to the drastic change in their lives, and along the way, Clara loses herself. The movie also features a side plot with Clara’s mom and a close friend of her dad’s, who work together to uncover a secret behind the car accident. There were multiple components and themes to the movie such as, betrayal, forgiveness, and personal growth.
The movie sparked discussion all over social media but also among the students at Rocky Mountain High School. When asked about her thoughts on the movie, junior, Kassandra Solomon, explains, “It was really good. It was a really sweet movie. There was a lot of twists and turns that you don’t expect. It was crazy, because there wasn’t just the lore with the daughter and stuff but also the lore with the parents.”
Another junior at Rocky Mountain, Lucy Hedgepeth, shares her thoughts about Regretting You, explaining, “I liked it, it was really cute. The actors were the best.”
Though the movie has received mixed reviews from critics, it topped charts at box office, making 87 million dollars worldwide with a domestic total of 47.8 million and an international total of 39.7 million.
