After a tough loss last year, Mountain View High School is back for vengeance. The long-lasting rivalry has caused problems in the past years, but with our record at 3-3 since the 2017-2018 season, it was clear that somebody had to break away. Mountain View came out with the win this year, putting them at four wins and us at three in the past five years.

Rowan Rupp, defensive end, said, “Mountain View is always a challenge, and we made a lot of game changing decisions that ultimately led to our loss, but we are the better of the mountains. Next year we will be back more disciplined and up the intensity.”

There were a lot of great plays and stops against the Mavs that contributed greatly to our performance. Not many turnovers occurred, however, Grizz had an interception that helped us to stay in the game. Towards the end of the game however, Mountain View got a pick-6 to seal the game. Our boys played a great game on Friday and are getting hyped for next game.

With the 14-24 loss it is clear that improvements must be made in order to get another state championship. Rocky has had a great history with football and last year’s run was another missed shot at state. The potential is absolutely there for the Grizzlies. It’s time to restore our reputation and finish this season strong, setting an example for next year’s varsity team and their Battle of the Mountains.
