The Varsity basketball team of Rocky Mountain high school ranked 19th in the state of Idaho, went up against ranked 13th in the state, Varsity basketball team of Centennial High school the other night, February 5th, 2025. Knowing how centennial has played in the past everyone would think the game would be a blow out, but it was a closer game than expected.
One of the dads of a rocky basketball player said, “I watched the centennial vs Owyhee and that was a very close game, so I would think centennial was going to play pretty good.”
Kaden Swenson a junior was asked how he thought the game was going to go and he said, “I didn’t think it would be that close of a game just knowing how rocky has played this season and how centennial has played.”
Even though Centennial still won, it was a close game and a good game to watch. The First quarter score was Rocky:20 Centennial:19, which was a good start for Rocky. The second quarter score was Rocky:31 Centennial:44, Rocky fell a little behind this quarter but after resting during half time they can make a comeback. Third quarter score Rocky:54 centennial:56 Rocky did start to make a comeback. Last quarter of the game the score was Rocky:68 Centennial:77, so this was bad news for Rocky. If Rocky won this game the Rocky team could’ve gone to districts automatically, but since Rocky lost that game, they had to go up against another school to fight for the fourth spot for districts.
The next game Rocky had to play for the fourth place for districts they lost. So sadly their 2024-2025 basketball season has come to an end. Overall, this was an entertaining game and season to watch and hopefully next season Rocky can make it to state.
