Rocky Mountain wrestling, a team that has been around since the opening of Rocky Mountain high school in 2008, has explored excellence ever since the start. With the season changing marks the start of wrestling season.
Last season was full of many great moments like, having multiple state placers, three champions at the Tim Mathews tournament, and many more. However, head Coach Guy Bullock is ready to blow expectations and last season out of the water. When asking Coach Bullock about what kind of big tournaments the team will be attending.
Coach Bullock stated: “The boys will be going to the Tri State tournament up at North Idaho college in Coeur d’Alene, and the girls will be going to the Reno Tournament of Champions.” He continued to say that these would be the biggest tournaments the team would be rolling into.
To reinstate the excitement of the upcoming season I spoke with varsity sophomore wrestler Tyler Irish.
Tyler suggested wrestling to the average person who is on the fence about the sport: “Wrestling for me has been a great escape from anything bad going on in my life… the team has also helped me make friends and lifelong bonds I would’ve never made before.”
Although wrestling is an extremely tough sport you can see the type of impact it has on people who have the courage to join the team like Tyler, why should you wrestle? It’s simple, when speaking with Coach Bullock he said, “it’s a great way to test your limits and see what your made of and set goals and try to accomplish high level goals.”
With the season coming to a start, Rocky Mountain looks to have a great season of success, fun, team bonding, and high-level growth towards whatever goals the athletes have set.

I believe wrestling is a great way to stay physically and mentally fit. Wrestling requires immense physical strength and is technically intensive, and the training regime is not for the weak-minded. Negative emotions can be turned into positive results by channeling harmful emotions into physical work.

I like how this article includes quotes of other wrestlers talking about what good comes from wrestling and why people should get involved.
