The sound of bass, drums, and heavy applause crammed the Kuna High School field. On October 11, they won yet another of their competitions. This time it was the Marching Invitational, a very important date for the Marching Band of Rocky Mountain High School.
After weeks of preparing and dedication to walking away with the win, Cole Allen shares some of the marching band’s secrets. “I would definitely say one of our strengths is the community that we’ve built, I feel like we all have a good friendship and bond we all share and it’s really cool because I don’t see other groups or other people having that.” Making every win more meaningful, it is clear that the band’s success comes from more than just practice. The bonds and overall community built through long rehearsals and shared challenges stand out the most.
When asked about the key components behind their success, Allen shares the most important thing. “I honestly think our biggest thing that makes us great is our work ethic, we all know what we signed up for, and it’s like we all really love doing marching band so we all show up every day for rehearsal, we all put in as much energy and time into it as we can and it’s all just a big group effort”. With a strong dedication and commitment to the band along with a great community, this is vital to their achievements. Everyone has a shared love for what they do. “We all like each other we all like being there we all just enjoy the activity so we all want to be the best we can at it,” Cole Allen also shares.
The band’s sense of unity continues to shine not only in competition but also in their support for each other on and off the field. Their achievement on October 11 reflects both individual talent and the collective strength of a program committed to excellence. As the season progresses, the Rocky Mountain Marching Band looks forward to upcoming performances and state-level competitions, where they show their talent, passion, and the hard work that has defined their season so far.
