The Rocky Mountain High School football team and their opponent, The Mountain View Mavericks played for the Battle of the Mountain for the Mountain Axe. It was a Friday night football game and people cheered because it was the Battle of the Mountains at home so it was even more packed.
The game ended with a win the score was 31-21 Rocky, winning the Battle of the Mountain axe for the 2nd year in a row. Many players like Rasean Jones had an amazing night with great plays. The student section was cheering, the people were on their feet, every touchdown and defensive stop was electric, and everyone was cheering. Both teams were going back and forth scoring in the first quarter, until the middle of the 2nd quarter Rocky broke through scoring 2 touchdowns in a row and never looked back putting away Mtn View.
I had the opportunity to sit down with Junior WR Taylor Porter after Fridays game. Here are some questions I asked him. How he thought he played in the game on Friday and this is what he said “ I did pretty good but not my best I only had a couple of couple of blocks and some minutes, I wish I did better that game”. I also asked him what his favorite play he had and this is what he had to say “ My favorite play I had was when I blocked a couple people”. At the end of the game all of the students in the student section threw flour everywhere getting everyone’s black outfits covered in flour. The players and students celebrated the win with each other and the axe, everyone was happy that we got the win and the axe. Coach Criner was very happy with the win he celebrated with the team and other coaches. Students and parents after the game cheered the players off the field high fiving them as they ran to the locker room to celebrate before they went home.
