The MCU has provided ultimate superhero experience ever since the release of the first “Iron Man” movie in 2008. Since then, it has led on with an amazing series, propping up famous characters and retelling decades old stories in a way that made them novel once again and more beloved than ever. It all came together in 2019 when The MCU released “Avengers Endgame.” According to CNBC.com, It brought in 2.80 billion dollars and told one of the greatest stories yet in the MCU while also completing and adding to several characters’ arcs in the collective story. An amazing film, then only to be followed by disappointment after disappointment. After the conclusion of Marvel’s phase three, phase four has fallen terribly short of the standards set by the previous three phases. Some new installations have been unanimously agreed to be terrible. Like She Hulk with a rating of 32% by audiences on rotten tomatoes and “The Eternals” at 47% by critics. While others just fall into the mediocre category. Something that is clearly lethal to marvel after setting such high standards earlier in the past twenty years. So, how has it come to this? How is it that a film franchise that made 2.80 billion dollars off one movie is now struggling to meet those same standards with multiple. One reason might be over exposure. With new content being generated so fast, and the MCU falling down a path so incoherent, it leaves fans confused and worn out with all the new characters and stories. Another reason is that the MCU has forgotten why it was successful in the first place. The MCU completely re-writes and ruins existing characters and stories to fit their new agendas and prop up their new movies. The MCU has ended three avengers and have had them replaced with a bunch of lesser heroes who are just there for the cheaper actor. With phase four coming to an end, the audience can only sit back and hope that the enjoyment Marvel once gave will return.
