Both teams demonstrated resilience, warming up and competing vigorously regardless of the unfavorable weather. Freshman Tyler Hall expressed confidence in his team’s performance, stating, “I think we’ll beat Timberline tonight” and added, “I think this is our state run this year, our offense and defense have improved a ton”. His optimism reflected the team’s belief in their capabilities. Similarly, Junior Tyler Elison remarked, “I think it is going to be a good game I think it’s going to be very close” and also stated, “I do think we are going to win”. Both players showcased a strong sense of confidence heading into the match.
The game commenced at 7:30 PM, with the first quarter ending in favor of Timberline, 4 to 2. The second quarter saw Timberline extend their lead, finishing 9 to 5, with Rocky scoring three more goals and Timberline adding five. By the third quarter, Rocky Mountain had narrowed the gap, scoring four goals to Timberline’s two, bringing the score to 11 to 9 in Timberline’s favor. The final quarter ended with a score of 14 to 12, as both teams scored three goals each, resulting in Timberline’s victory.
Despite the loss, the game was praised for its competitive spirit. Junior Britton Keley reflected on the outcome, saying, “Wasn’t quite what we wanted to happen. We feel like we are a better team, we just had some balls that didn’t go our way, had some calls that didn’t go our way. We didn’t play our best but they’re a good team so are we”.
