On Wednesday, March 12th, at 6 p.m. Rocky students, faculty, and friends joined together in the school’s auditorium for the annual “Rocky’s Got Talent.” Twelve acts performed for the $300 grand prize and the title of “Rocky’s Most Talented.” The night was full of talent, and strong bonds the contestants developed with one another.
Alexander Skousen, one of the performers said “My favorite thing about being in the show was the people backstage. We could always be found laughing, joking, and complimenting one another. It was a fantastic time.”
After the show ended, paper ballots were passed to the audience to determine who the winners would be. The ballots were then collected and counted, and the contestants lined up on stage as Mr. Quam announced the winners. Jacks Allen and Kate Williams stepped up as their names were called out, with The Lost Boys dance group and Ryker Dean as the runner ups.
“We chose to play a mix of songs (‘Everlong”, “Smells like Teen Spirit”, “Undone” (sweater song), “Nothing Else Matters”, and “1979”) because we both like this kind of music.” Williams said, describing what she and Allen had performed that night.
She then added, “I felt amazing. I was so happy that we won because I have always wanted to show my talent of drums in front of people.”
The second-place winners were a dance group called the Lost Boys, who continued their second-year steak of placing at the show.
Kohen Swindlehurst, a member of dance group said, “It felt pretty rewarding when they called our name to announce that we had placed. Knowing that the work we put in to achieve that actually paid off.”
