On Thursday, January 24, the girls’ varsity basketball struggled against a dynamic Boise team. Rocky had momentum heading into this game, coming off a three-game winning streak. Unfortunately, the winning streak would come to an end in a 58 to 42 loss at home, due to Boise’s fast-paced offense and sharp shooting. With the win, Boise Brave improved to 15-3 on the season, looking like one of the best teams in the state.
After the game, Rocky’s sophomore point guard, Sophie Tanner, expressed her confidence saying, “We have nothing to lose and we’re going to ball out.” Tanner, along with the rest of the team, is focused on giving their best effort, no matter the circumstances.
Rocky is currently sitting at 12-7 and will face another tough challenge on Tuesday, January 28, when they take on Eagle. This next game will also be Senior Night, adding more anticipation to this matchup.

Losing in basketball is hard but its a game they can come back from and learn for next time. 16 points is a huge lead to have but I have hope for the future go rocky.

I thought this was a very good article to read and gain information about rocky girls’ basketball. it was talking about how we had a tough loss but one of the players said they are just going to keep on pushing through and winning again. and I was at this game against Boise so it was cool to see an article about a game I went too

This article is very important to have. I like how informative it is on the sports and activities at rocky mountain High School.

I like how this article includes the final score and the two teams’ records through the season so far. I also like that you included a quote from one of the players. This is a really good article.

That’s very unfortunate. But, that’s okay, because you can’t be successful on the first try, but failing once gives us a chance to have better plans, and all of that. Go Grizzlies!

i love that in this article it talks about not only how they were up but how the outcome came. i also enjoyed the fact it talked about how they were on a winning streak not just making it seem like are team isn’t good. the quote also made the article that much better.

The girls played their hearts out this game. They might have lost, but they got 42 points and didn’t give up. They had a great run this season and hopefully they had fun out there.

Thank you for informing us on the performance of our girls’ varsity basketball team, even though we didn’t win this one, the team is still strong. Looking forward to seeing them hopefully win the next one. Let’s hope their performance will be even better to be able to pull through and obtain the victory against Eagle.

I think that this article is very devastating and very motivating at the same time. When Sophie Tanner puts the loss against Boise behind her and focuses on the next game is really cool.

I love how the writer gives us insight on the players and how they lost. I also like how they include game scores and dates of when it happened. it was a pretty short article, but I still liked the way it was written.

I love how Rocky is able to bounce back even after a tough loss. It’s very hard for teams to win after a loss but just like Sophie Tanner said, “We have nothing to lose and we’re going to ball out.” This is a great mindset especially for someone so young. I believe Rocky girls’ basketball will come back with a win.

I think that the positive spin put on the game, and what is to come, even if we don’t have the best season, is what really matters. Not just the score or the outcome.
malaya • Feb 4, 2025 at 9:37 am
I like this newspaper because it shows that rocky went into this game with a good mindset.
Jack Werle • Feb 4, 2025 at 9:37 am
I like how the author tells us that it is a tough loss and that they explained how Boise was able to win with their fast-paced offense and sharp shooting.
