Collin Chapman is currently the backup QB for the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies but its been up and down for him since he entered the program in 2022.
Chapman as a sophomore was the 3rd QB on the depth chart behind Gunnar Thompson and Camden Crum by the time Rocky headed to the playoffs Chapman had been named the Starter.
After a heartbreaking loss in the quarterfinals against CDA where the Grizzlies lost 24-8, it looked clear that Chapman would be the starter, but there were other plans in place.
A senior transfer from Timberline Austin Rovig swept in and earned the starting spot and it was clear there was some talent not being put to use, in Collin Chapman.
Rovig led the grizzlies to a state semifinal and an undefeated regular season some consider to be the best in state history.
With eyes on next year I had to catch up with Collin Chapman to ask him about everything that went down in the last 6 months, he had a lot to say on the subject.
What did you thing when Austin Rovig transferred to rocky?
When Austin transferred, I thought that we were going to have to compete for that starting spot because we both are good quarterbacks but the results didn’t go my way.
After finishing the season as the starter last year, were you surprised when you didn’t start this season?
After finishing last year as a starter, I was surprised I wasn’t going to start the next year because I didn’t think anyone was going to transfer but when someone did I knew I would have to work harder so I could play going into next year
Going into next year are you ready to prove the people who doubted your ability wrong?
Going into next year I am going to worker harder than I have before so I can show everyone that I am worthy of being the starter and prove to everyone that I’m not just a second string qb and that I can lead a team to the state championship.
Next year will mark 5 years since the last time rocky won it all, it’s safe to say underdog Collin Chapman has plans to grab Rocky fourth state championship and leave a stamp on his legacy at Rocky Mountain.

Colin Chapman has dedication towards this sport that not many people have. I think its impressive to see that he handled the Timberline transfer Austin Rovig so well. Colin is going to comeback harder than ever next season and I’m excited to see it!

I thought that the article was written well. The words used really helped to set a dramatic tone. Good story too, I like the way y’all had him answer questions, it gave us an in depth understanding of what he must have felt.
