Four-day weekends would be very beneficial for students and teachers and here are some reasons why: more than 2,100 public schools in 25 states have switched to only four days of school a week according to The Journalist Resource News. They did this to hopefully recruit teachers, save money and increase students’ attendance. Schools are starting to have a shortage of teachers in the district. This is causing a problem which I think an extra day of school off would help. Schools usually give students Mondays or Fridays off giving them the three-day weekend which gives them a chance to have a break, and re-collect themselves. Highschool life is hard, and I think it’s a great idea to have the day off because students will come back to school refreshed and more ready to learn. There are studies that have been proven that students that have little longer breaks tend to learn better throughout the week. I back this statement because I think that it is true. When we have a day off school it makes it easier to get through the week and makes it easier to get things done during class.
On the other hand there are some negative effects to having a day off of school. Some things are that your learning is cut short a day, so you are not getting as many hours as before. Also, if the whole district has the day off some younger kids would have to go into daycare or babysitting because some parents have jobs during school hours. Students attending a 4-day school schedule may have requirements for their education that fall outside of the normal work schedule for their parents according to Ittana’s.
Obviously there are many benefits from having school off but there is also some downsides to it too that would be taken into consideration as well. I asked 10 students here at Rocky Mountain about their opinion of the day off school on Friday and they all agreed that we should have the day off. I also asked a few superintendents about their opinion, and they agreed with the students. In conclusion I think that having Fridays off school would be a great benefit to all students and teachers here at Rocky.

I agree with all the points made in this article. It would be very refreshing to have an extra day off, allowing for more time to complete homework without turning in work late. I know I would be much more motivated to come to school every day knowing that I have a three-day weekend ahead.

I agree that having Fridays off would be super beneficial for both students and staff. It seems that most students and staff agree that this would be a good option even though it could mean longer school days. It also seems to be working very well for the schools that have already switched to having Fridays off.

I 100% agree with this article because as a freshman, I understand the huge amount stress high school students have thrust upon themselves especially coming to the end of semesters with 3 finals a day and crazy hours studying and studying. Maybe if school was a little longer on Monday-Thursday that could solve the problem of lessons cut short but also gives us an extra day to catch up, study, and recuperate ourselves for the weekend and another week of school.

I agree that students and teachers would both benefit from an extra day off. The positive and the negative effects were very clear, and it is apparent that the pros outweigh the cons.

I think that four-day weeks would be beneficial. Many schools have already switched to shorter weeks, so I think Rocky should too.

This would be amazing because I have a hectic schedule, and even one day off of school will help me complete a lot of work. It would also give me more time to study for tests so that I can get my grades up.

I think this is an amazing take. I agree with you that we should have fridays off. The weekend is just too short.

I agree with this because sometimes weekends feel too short, and I want more time with family. However, at the same time I believe that with only four days of school during the week it will be harder to fit in more lessons.

I think it’s interesting so many more schools have already switched over.

I think this idea is very smart because there are more benefits than losses. Students will do their best with a 4-day week.

I agree with this because giving students an extra day to their weekend gives them more time to do activities outside of school, and keeps students from getting burnt out.

I like the idea of having a day off of school, but I feel like it would be even better if we had Wednesdays off instead of Fridays to allow students to catch up on work and get ready for the second half of the week.

I totally agree with having fewer school days. It would be very beneficial to have as students and as teachers, and even if we have to stay longer at school it would be worth it.

I agree, I think that students should have Friday off to collect themselves. Having a 3-day weekend would be something that would be helpful for students and their learning.

I totally agree.
