RMHS Cheerleaders take on their first competition.

USA spirit nationals is a huge upcoming cheerleading competition put on by united spirit association, (A varsity brand) where teams from all around the states. It Is hosted from the 16^th-17^th of February 2024 at Anaheim California, Rocky Mountain cheer is heading that way. So far this season they have gone to some local competitions just around the valley. The upcoming competitions that they have are the more “serious” and lead up to nationals. Cheerleaders were questioned, “Do you think you are ready for USA spirit nationals and how do you think others feel the same way you do about it.”

Many members of the Rocky Mountain cheer team think they will be prepared. One cheerleader stated, “I do think we will be prepared and ready for what is upcoming.” (Iris Worrell)

Another stated, “We work very hard, and I think what we do to prepare will help us A LOT in the long run especially with such a big competition such as nationals.” (Hailey McDaniel)

The last cheerleader stated, “I feel that once everybody realizes how big this is for us, they will lock in, and everyone will do their job and put in the work.” (Sophia Warren)

So, they all believe that they can do it and they are prepared. They have been working since the beginning of the 2023 summer. They have 3 routines POM, that consists of jumping and dancing, Sideline that is a minute long cheer with stunts, tumbling, jumping, and sign and pom usage, and the last one is show. Show is the hardest one. Show consists of, many stunts, pyramids, tumbling, jumps, dance, and a 30-second-long cheer in it. For the nationals they will only preform Show.

So, RMHS cheer is excited and ready to take on their upcoming competitions and what this means next for them.
